The second phase of the IIT JEE examination is called the JEE Advanced. The candidates who score well in JEE Main will be qualified to attempt JEE Advanced. JEE Advanced is taken as the eligibility test for admission to various IITs in different parts of the country.
JEE Advanced
JEE Advanced is an online examination conducted in various centres. The information brochure for JEE Advanced 2021 was released by IIT Kharagpur. The examination will be conducted in the first week of October. The students get all the recent updates regarding the examination by checking the brochure. The examination was scheduled for the month of July 2021, but due to the pandemic situation, it was postponed to the first week of October. The eligibility criteria for JEE advanced are also revised this year. The candidates who could not appear for JEE Advanced last year can also take up the examination this year.
The application form for the examination is available for the students from 15th September 2021. The last date to submit the application form online is 25th September 2021. The Admit card for JEE Advanced will be released by the end of September. The date of the examination is 3rd October 2021.
The top 2.5 lakh candidates who scored well in JEE Main are eligible for the IIT JEE Advanced 2021. The JEE Advanced syllabus is released by the examination authority. The syllabus is based on the NCERT curriculum. The JEE Advanced syllabus will be almost the same as the JEE Main syllabus.
JEE Advanced Question Paper
The JEE Advanced question paper includes two papers of three hours duration each. It is mandatory for the students to attempt both the question papers. The questions asked in the examination tests the analytical, reasoning and comprehensive ability of the candidates. As per the previous years’ question papers, the total questions asked in JEE advanced questions paperis 108.
The candidates are given 4 marks for every correct answer. If the answers are partially correct the candidates will get 1,2 or 3 marks, provided the wrong answer is not marked. If the answers are incorrect there will be a negative marking of -2. There is no negative marking for unattempted questions.
Along with the results of the examination, the cutoff marks will be released. The cutoff marks are the minimum marks required for the candidates to be eligible for the counselling process. The cutoff score is determined by the factors like the total number of candidates eligible for JEE Advanced, the seats available in different IITs, the difficulty level of the examination, total candidates who appeared, the previous year’s cutoff marks, the overall performance of the candidates.
The candidates can practice previous years’ JEE question papers to get an idea about the question paper pattern, types of questions asked, duration of the examination, difficulty level and more. Referring question papers from past years will be of great significance for candidates who are currently preparing for the entrance examination.
